The first Maté Café of the new decade! There are 15 of us in the organising team (in the WhatsApp group) and a few more who come every time to help out. Everyone has something to contribute. We hail from many corners of the World and have all come to Brighton, and become part of a community around Maté Café.
In just over a year since the first cafe, Saturday's event was the busiest so far. A change of day from the regular Sunday seemed to appeal. Delicious food was cooked by Sena. A mix of bulgar wheat and chickpeas in a tomato paste, with caramelised onions and side salad; watch this space for a soon to be launched video channel with recipes.
Music performances by Noor, Sharma, Mais, and Fergus were very well received and children had creative fun with art workshops from Ally, Katerina, Charlie & Steve . Some of the results are below.
